Sibling Grief Coaching

Walking your child through his/her grief of losing a sibling can be difficult, even more so, when you are dealing with your own child loss grief. You are trying to be strong for your child, while your child is trying to be strong for you.

Adults typically have the ability to turn to other adults who are able to listen to you and walk with you through your grief. Children are often left without anyone to process with because they don't want to burden their parents, and their friends just do not understand. This is exactly why Hope Family Care has established Sibling Grief Coaching and certified coaches. 

Through Hope Family Care’s Sibling Grief Coaching, siblings, who have experienced the loss of a brother or sister, can get the support they need to process their grief. This outside support will give them the opportunity to process their grief outside of their family unit, enabling them to opportunity to freely express themselves without fear or reservation regarding how their feelings will affect the rest of the family.

How HFC Sibling Coaching Works:

1. Complete the Sibling Grief Coaching Intake Form and then follow the link to purchase Sibling Grief Coaching Sessions Package for your child.

(These sessions are child specific as our coaches focus one on one with each child. A minimum of two (2) sessions per child is required.)

2. You will then be contacted via email by our Sibling Grief Coaching Coordinator to setup your child's coaching sessions.

(If you have further comments or questions regarding the coaching you can ask your child's coach directly.)

3. All sessions will be conducted via our online platform and your child's Sibling Grief Coach with follow-up each session with an email to you, the parents. 

4. The heart of coaching is the application of your child's 'Moving Forward Steps,' therefore, we ask that you commit to a minimum of two sessions. This allows your child's coach to follow-up with accountability exercises. 

5. The Sibling Grief Coaching sessions have an expiration date of one year from the date of purchase. However, you can schedule the coaching sessions out at whatever intervals you and your child's Sibling Grief Coach determine as best for your family and child's specific situation.

Did you know that children will reprocess their grief in each developmental stage as they grow? Unlike adults who are able to process their child loss as an adult, children need to revisit and reconstruct what happened to their sibling. This is why Sibling Grief Coaching is a vital tool to have in your parenting 'tool belt'!
